The Doctorate in Network Engineering is developed between three institutionally accredited universities: the Autonomous University of Manizales, the Autonomous University of the West and the Autonomous University of Bucaramanga.
The duration of the program is 4 years (8 Semesters) with 96 credits (12 credits per semester).
The 96 credits of the program are divided into three (3) components:
Foundation Component (12 Credits)
Innovation and entrepreneurship (4 Credits)
Fundamentals I and II (4 Credits each)
Component of Deepening (16 Credits)
Deepening I, II, III and IV - These are elective courses (4 Credits each)

Classes are scheduled in the following time slot: Monday through Friday from 2 to 8 pm and Saturdays from 8 am to 2 pm.

The program has a face-to-face modality. Students must attend the university where they enroll or the closest campus to their place of residence.
Each cohort enters classes beginning each year during the month of February and the month of August.

Yes. The seminars are a curricular strategy of the program and are carried out by the research groups or within the course of the Doctoral Thesis Project.
More than 90% of the Doctorate credits are flexible. The only fixed courses are: Research Methodology and Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Yes. The student must complete a national or international internship between 3 months and 1 year (according to the plan approved by the Thesis Director and the host institution).
Yes. The proficiency test has two components: a written test of knowledge and an oral support of the Doctoral Thesis proposal..
The minimum grade to pass a course is 3.5 out of 5.0
Yes. The internship, the proficiency test and the courses of the research component are qualified qualitatively.

Research courses (with the exception of Research Methodology), are developed with the support of professors and Thesis Directors.
-If the student is covered by the 2015 Academic Regulations, the Doctoral Thesis Committee must be made up of: the thesis director, a national evaluator and an international evaluator.
-If the student is covered by the 2020 Academic Regulations, the Doctoral Thesis Committee must be made up of: the thesis director, two national evaluators and one international evaluator
Before enrolling the Doctoral Project II course. That is, at the end of the first year.
The Coordinating Committee of the Doctorate will define the requirements that at least must contemplate the one that holds the title of Doctor.
• Co-directors of doctoral theses. • PhD thesis evaluators. • Facilitators of student internships in their laboratories. • Participation as teachers in courses of the curriculum.
Students will be placed in cubicles assigned to them in laboratories or in specific areas intended for PhD students.

Yes. You can approve up to 24 credits of courses of the Fundamental and Deepening components of master's and doctoral courses previously developed by the student. The minimum qualification obtained in those courses must be 3.8.

Yes. In accordance with the availability of resources in the Common Fund of the Doctorate, the Inter-institutional Administrative Committee may assign resources to support Doctorate projects and student mobility, among other support resources.
-If the student is covered by the 2015 Academic Regulations, the following will be grade requirements:
a. Having supported and approved the Doctoral Thesis.
b. Have passed the internship.
c. Have actively participated in 20 hours of doctoral seminars.
d. Meet the following academic production requirements:
*Having accepted an article in a national or international journal in category B or higher according to Publindex.
*Having submitted an article in an international journal in category B or higher according to Publindex.
*Having been a speaker at an international conference¨.
-If the student is covered by the 2020 Academic Regulations, the following will be grade requirements:
a. Have sustained and approved the doctoral thesis.
b. Have passed the internship.
c. Having obtained a minimum amount of 12 points corresponding to the sum of products of new knowledge, technological development and innovation, social appropriation and circulation of knowledge; developed
during the doctoral program. The products and their weighting are defined by the Coordinating Committee of the Doctorate in Engineering, and are based on updated documents from the country's National System of Science, Technology and Innovation.
d. Be safe and sound academically and financially in the program.
